18th Annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive

(Picture from 2016 drive)

Presbyterian Media Mission has asked us to let you know,  the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh had their 18th annual Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood Sweater Drive kick-off on November 9.  (Website difficulties hindered us from getting that date out to you, earlier.  Sorry.)  BUT….

This is a great two-fold opportunity for local Presbyterian Churches to collect sweaters beginning in November through December 15th.  They encourage us to first care for our neighborhoods, giving sweaters to neighbors in need  in our own community, first.  Additional sweaters that are left, can then be brought to the Children’s Museum for distribution for those in need, served by the agencies listed below.  It is all about being a good neighbor and a cool way of doing local mission that can give visibility to your church right in the neighborhood where you’re located.

BACKGROUND:

Since 2000, the Children’s Museum has collected more than 35,500 sweaters to share with families in need throughout our southwestern Pennsylvania “neighborhood.”

The public can drop off new or gently used sweaters of all sizes in the Museum’s lobby (10 Children’s Way, Pittsburgh, PA 15212) from November 9 through December 15, 2017.  More information is available on the Museum’s Sweater Donation Hotline at (412) 322-5058 ext. 363.

Between December 18 and December 22, all sweaters collected will be distributed by the Presbyterian Churches of the Tri-State Area, Homeless Children’s Education Fund, Veterans Leadership Program of Western PA and other Children’s Museum partners to nonprofit agencies that work with families and children in the region.
