Don was ordained in 1985 at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Hattiesburg, Mississippi where he served both as a Youth Pastor and as a Campus Minister at the University of Southern Mississippi. In 1987, he moved to First Presbyterian Church in Middletown, Ohio as the Associate Pastor for Youth and Children Ministries. Don began serving as an Air Force Chaplain in January 1989. From 1989 to 2011, he served in several different positions at many military bases around the world. In 2011, Don retired from the Air Force to become the Associate Director to the Presbyterian Council for Chaplains and Military Personnel. In May 2016, Dr. Wilson came to Kiskiminetas Presbytery to serve as the General Presbyter.
Don graduated from King College in Bristol, TN, with a BA in History and Political Science. He completed a Master of Divinity degree at Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, and received his Doctor of Ministry degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, MN. He completed four units of Clinical Pastoral Education at Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Additionally, he completed Squadron Officer School, Air Command and Staff College, Air War College, and Air Force Academic Instructor School. In 1996, Don was one of two American Chaplains invited to attend the International Chaplain Course sponsored by the German Government.
Don and his wife, Becky, have four children and two grandchildren. Don is an avid marathon runner having completed 45 marathons and one ultra-marathon. His official biography is available upon request
